IT’S HAPPENING AT ROKA AKOR CHICAGO BY MOLLY SHANKS

by Alison

The scene at Roka Akor on a Wednesday night is one you would expect from a trendy, River North spot. The only difference? This Wednesday, the restaurant rolled out its “Shochu & Sushi” nights which will occur every Wednesday this summer from 5 to 7pm.
Hamachi Serrano, Dynamite Scallops, Tuna Four Ways, and Yellowtail and Sweet Shrimp Sashimi fill high rise tables overlooking the bustling intersection of Illinois and Clark and Chef Ce Bian’s dining room proudly displays the open charcoal cuisine that earned his restaurant a recommendation from the revered Michelin Guide. Raspberry Ginger Schochu cocktails (the invention of Mixologist Jason Huffman) pack the perfect punch with market fresh fruits and spices. Roka Bar appears to have created the perfect hump day ritual with cocktails, sushi, and steak all rolled in to one.
