ROKA AKOR CHEF JASON ALFORD NAMED TO BEST CHEFS AMERICA

by Alison

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 1, 2013) – Chef Jason Alford, Executive Chef for Roka Akor in Scottsdale, has been honored as one of the country’s top culinary talents in the inaugural edition of Best Chefs America. This is the first-ever peer review guide of U.S. chefs, who were chosen after extensive interviews between their fellow chefs and Best Chefs America analysts.
“I am thrilled to be nominated by my peers and included in Best Chefs America,” Chef Alford said. “This recognition is truly an honor and gives me yet another reason to be appreciative of my fellow professionals and chosen profession.”
Nationally recognized as one of the “Top 10 Sushi Spots” in the US by Bon Appétit magazine, Roka Akor is Scottsdale’s one-of-a-kind Robata grill and sushi restaurant. Constructed of packed-earth walls, high ceilings and low-lighting, the
restaurant projects a sense of warmth heightened by the extensive mesquite Robata grill, where chefs prepare prime steak, fish, poultry, meat and vegetables over open flame in front of guests. Since ancient times, this grilling technique has been used to sear tenderness and flavor into food. Today, Roka Akor carries on the time-honored
tradition using only the best seasonal and local ingredients available, all carefully chosen by Executive Chef Jason Alford.
Having worked extensively with Chef Bjoern Weissgerber of Zuma Miami and Chef Ce Bian of Roka Akor Chicago, Chef Alford and his talented culinary team utilize the finest techniques serving enticing and exciting plates with their contemporary take on standard sushi.
“Chefs themselves truly understand what it takes to be successful in this competitive industry, and Best Chefs America offers them a forum to express their views,” states Elizabeth Fishburne, Best Chefs America Lead Analyst. “Based on the overwhelmingly positive response from more than 5,000 participating chefs, it is clear that the chefs selected demonstrated excellence in their craft.”
