Sneak Peek of Roka Akor San Francisco

by Alison

Roka Akor, a Japanese robata grill and sushi restaurant, is projected to open in San Francisco’s Jackson Square (801 Montgomery Street) in late June or early July. The restaurant will be the first location in San Francisco; Roka Akor already operates three restaurants (one in Scottsdale and two in Illinois). The above drawing is an interior elevation rendering of the restaurant that shows a small slice of what will be a 118-seat restaurant with a downstairs bar that holds a capacity of 68 people. The latter is under the direction of bar manager Daniel Hyatt, best known for his work with Alembic. Upstairs, the restaurant’s menu has been spearheaded by executive chef Roman Petry, who comes to SF with an international resume of Japanese restaurants. Might this give the robata grill at Ozumo some big competition? Only time will tell.
