Chef Boyd Cheong first came to the United States from Malaysia at age 17 to study computer science at Hawaii Pacific University, but soon discovered that his true calling and passion for cooking would lead him to a successful career in the culinary world. Chef Boyd perfected and honed his skills while working under Roka Akor’s Chef Cebian and Chef Jason Alford. Recently appointed Executive Chef of Roka Akor Old Orchard in 2014, Chef Boyd brings a commitment and understanding for fresh, delicious ingredients to his role at the restaurant. Using traditional culinary Asian principles as a foundation to his cooking, Chef Boyd enjoys serving guests dishes that are simple, yet elegant.
In his time outside of the kitchen, Chef Boyd can be found fishing, listening to music and spending time with his two young children.
